My Parrot Harry

My Parrot Harry (The Life and Times of Harry, the Eclectus Parrot)

A true story about a wonderful parrot named Harry, who has faith that he is an extraordinary and special bird–and he IS!

Excerpt:

Harry is an eclectus parrot, and that means he has bright colors in his feathers and dinosaur feet. You see, all parrots were dinosaurs a long, long time ago. Look at his feet and you can see they look just like the feet of the little pink raptor!

My Parrot Harry

Parrots squawk, so they sound like crows only a whole lot louder. Harry likes to squawk when the day starts and when the sun sets and when anyone comes to visit.

Now, Harry was born in a town called Plymouth, Massachusetts, in the United States, and so were his parents, but his grandparents were born in a rainforest in a place called Queensland, Australia. Parrots who live there sleep on tree branches, just like Harry sleeps on his perch. Can you find Harry in the rainforest?

My Parrot Harry

Harry gets a little nervous during thunderstorms when the sky gets dark and lightning shows up, so to feel better he looks out the window and says “It’s okay” and “It’s all right” a lot of times, and it works!

Now did you know why a parrot’s eyes are on the sides of the head? This lets the parrot see everything in both directions at the same time!
